Marketing comes to Hawaiiana

Donald Leighton Garwood will head the first marketing department in the 33-year history of Hawaiiana Management Co. Ltd. as the company looks to more expansion.

"We acquired the accounts from Clark Realty this year and opened a Kona office," Garwood said. It now has offices on Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island.

He worked eight years for Metropolitan Management Inc., and two years for D. M. Carter & Associates as a property manager.

Garwood came to Hawaii in 1980 on a music scholarship, playing the trombone, but earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and public relations from the University of Hawaii. He is active with the Hawaii Business Travel Association, Community Association Institute and the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Hawaiiana Management Co. Ltd. has 236 association contracts that cover more than 27,000 apartments.
