Born in Hawaii, she is survived by son Carl Ayala; daughters Sandra Paglinawan, Sharon Pennington and Deborah Rutkowski; mother Emily Soto; brothers Norio Colipano, Sencio Bacquiran and Bill and James “Chu” Ayala; sisters Agnes Mercado, Caroline Belaski, Doris Carvalho, Kathreen Harding, Rose Ebulan, Narcie Blair, Bena Gallarde, Suzy Guzman and Remi Vegas; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Barbara A. Chiri, 76, of Kailua-Kona died Tuesday at home. Born in Santa Cruz, Calif., she is survived by husband Andrew E.; daughters Ellen C. Bakaleinikoff, Marion Chiri and Janet C.
