Vorfeld started with Amfac in 1980 as a planting supervisor for Lihue Plantation on Kauai. In 1987, he went to Pioneer Mill on Maui and managed the cultivation department. He returned to Lihue in 1992 and since 1994, Vorfield has headed agricultural operations at Pioneer Mill.
He earned a bachelor's degree in crop science/plant protection from California Polytechnic Institute in San Luis Obispo.
