Is that dirty-dog smell from Fido getting overwhelming? Are you tired of dirtying up your bathtub with fur and fleas when you bathe your pet?Relief is at Petland Kahala.
East Oahu's newest pet store is offering until May 31 a free-self service dog wash and dry for a half hour in the store's Aquapro Dog Wash Center.
Petland Kahala will give adult pet owners everything they need including shampoo and conditioner, towels, an apron to keep you dry, hot and cold water, a large stainless steel elevated tub with a rubberized walk-up ramp, brushes and combs and a large dryer cage.
After a half-hour - more than enough time to clean even the dirtiest pooch - the cost is $10 for more time.
The free service has been a big success with as many as a dozen people on one weekend day bringing in their bowsers for a cleaning. One dog weighed about 170 pounds.
After May 31, Petland Kahala will still offer the service but it will cost you $10 per half hour. No other Petlands are scheduled to offer the service, an employee said.
You don't have to use the drying cage because Petland will provide you as many clean towels as you need to dry your pet. A Petland employee helps supervise the cleaning.
Petland Kahala is located at 4400 Kalanianaole Highway near Kahala Mall and is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information call 734-7387.
