Sunland, the four-member Hawaii group whose hit single "We Are Only Human" combines funk and danceable pop with Hawaiian chants, has been signed by Universal Records.

The record company on Tuesday will release "We Are Only Human" as a compact disc single and last week shipped it to mainland Top 40, adult contemporary, and crossover radio stations.

Sunland is composed of Claudia Vasquez, Chad Guerrero, and Natalie and Iolani Kamauu.

Originally released on the Hawaii record label Lavaland, the "We Are Only Human" CD single became the fastest selling local single in Hawaii. It reached No. 1 on KCCN-FM, No. 5 on KIKI-FM and was the first local song to make it to No. 1 on KQMQ-FM, a position it held for four weeks.

"We Are Only Human" has been nominated for a Hoku award, to be presented May 21.

The group's follow-up single, "Juliet," became KQMQ's most requested song in April on the first day it was played and remained the station's No. 1 song for 20 days.
