Beth Waller takes over marketing leadership at Honolulu Cellular at a time when smaller is better - at least for the cellular telephones the company sells. Big plans for small phones
"The products are smaller and easier to use," Waller said. "The smallest, the StarTac, can even be worn as jewelry (pendant)." The Motorola StarTac is 33/4 inches by 2 inches by 3/4-inch thick.
The phone can be put in a pocket, and signal a call by vibrating instead of ringing, she said.
She has been with the company for eight years, working in sales and marketing.
Waller last served as retail operations manager with the responsibility for development, marketing and operations of 14 retail locations. She will continue to watch over stores and kiosks.
Waller, who is a University of Hawaii alumna, also taught home economics for nine years at Moanalua High School.
