








Brandan Kop birdied the final hole to win the Navy-Marine Men's Invitational golf tournament yesterday with a 54-hole total of 214 on the Navy-Marine Course. Kop captures Navy-
Marine golf tourneyKop has won the Air Force, Army and Barber's Point (Navy) Invitational tournaments in the past, but this was his first victory at Navy-Marine, completing his "military slam."
Jay Kurisu of Maui, the leader for the first two rounds, finished second with a 215.
Randy Block of Honolulu was third with an even-par 216, making him the low scorer of all the military contestants.
Wade Nakamura took A Flight honors with a 227 while Merv Matsumoto finished first in the Senior Flight with a 221.
MOYNAHAN LEADS BY ONE: At Kapalua, Maui, Brendan Moynahan shot a 3-under-par 70 at Kapalua's Plantation Course to take a one-stroke lead in the GTE Hawaiian Tel Hall of Fame Championship golf tournament.
Moynahan, a teaching pro at Kapalua's Bay Course, had seven birdies on the first 12 holes.
Ron Castillo Jr., head pro at the Hapuna Course, was second at 71. Marty Keiter, Kapalua's director of golf, finished third with a 73.
PEDERSEN, FISHER WIN: Brent Pedersen and Sylvia Fisher won their respective divisions of yesterday's Cinco De Mayo 5-kilometer run at Kapiolani Park.
Pedersen edged Gustauo Vanela by two seconds in the men's race, finishing the 3.1-mile event in 14 minutes and 54 seconds. Wisher was timed in 16:30, nearly a minute ahead of women's runner-up Mareike Ressing.
DASH 'N SPLASH WINNERS: Peter Hursty and Marci Aitken were the top finishers in the Kailua Canoe Club's Dash 'n Splash Biathlon yesterday at Kailua.
Hursty completed the 2.8-mile run around Lanikai and the 800-meter swim off Kailua bay in 25 minutes and 47 seconds. Aitken won the women's race, clocking in at 29:56.
RAMIL, NITTA TRIUMPH: Randy Ramil defeated Jason Hoopii, 246-200, and Shauna Nitta beat Cindy Sakuda, 202-195, to win the boys and girls divisions, respectively, in the Oahu Junior Bowling Tour tournament at the K-Bay Lanes yesterday.
RACQUETBALL TOURNEY: The Dan K. Ho Memorial-Hawaii State Singles Racquetball Championships are May 24-25 at the Martinez Fitness Center, building 488, Schofield Barracks.
