OPENING TOMORROW

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

Mike Myers plays British secret agent Austin Powers and his arch-rival Dr. Evil, both of whom have been in a deep freeze for 30 years. Director Jay Roach's farce is simply groovy. (PG-13) At Cinerama, Kapolei, Keolu, Mililani, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row

Warriors of Virtue (Star rating unavailable)

In this action fantasy, a teen-age boy stumbles into a strange world to help five kung fu kangaroos battle an evil warlord and finds his own warrior virtues along the way. (PG) At Kahala, Kapolei, Keolu, Pearlridge West

CONTINUING

Anaconda

As a scary movie "Anaconda" is no more than middling. But if you look at it as a parody, you might find it howlingly funny. (PG-13) At Kam Drive-In, Kapolei, Keolu, Mililani, Pearlridge West, Restaurant Row, Waikiki 1

Double Team

Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dennis Rodman and Mickey Rourke meet violently in Rome for a showdown that involves land mines, a baby, a Bengal tiger and the Colosseum engulfed in flames. (R) At Pearlridge West

Gross Pointe Blank

The moral quandry of sympathizing with a killer for hire, played by John Cusack, and the plot holes that might disable another movie are made irrelevant by the lustrous chemistry between Cusack and co-star Minnie Driver. (R) At Kahala, Kailua, Kapolei, Pearlridge West

Jerry Maguire

Tom Cruise plays a sports agent who dishonors himself by being honest. Supporting actor Cuba Gooding's performance brought him an Oscar win. (R) At Kahala

Jungle 2 Jungle

Tim Allen stars in a rote fish-out-of-water story about a commodities trader who brings his Amazonian forest-raised son to New York. (PG) At Kapolei

Kolya

This engaging, unpretentious drama, winner of this year's foreign-language film Oscar, traces the journey of love between a man and a child forced to form their own family unit. (PG-13) At Varsity

Liar Liar

Jim Carrey plays a scummy lawyer forced to tell the truth for 24 hours. Carrey's facial and bodily contortions make up the whole show. (PG-13) At Kahala, Kailua, Kapolei, Mililani, Pearlridge West, Restaurant Row

McHale's Navy

Tom Arnold stars in a big-screen version of the '60s television sitcom. The comedy is toothless and Arnold comes across as boring and unfelt. (PG) At Kapolei, Pearlridge West

Murder at 1600

The performances of stars Wesley Snipes and Diane Lane raise this solid, engrossing whodunit several notches. (R) At Enchanted Lake, Kahala, Kam Drive-In, Kapolei, Pearlridge West, Restaurant Row

Paradise Road

Glenn Close, Frances McDormand and Julianna Margulies star in director Bruce Beresford's powerful, if occasionally heavy-handed movie about a group of women, imprisoned in a Japanese camp on Sumatra during World War II, who form what they call call a vocal orchestra to keep their spirits up. (R)At Varsity

Romy & Michele's High School Reunion

Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow's inspired acting as two adorable ditzes is the best part of this farce. (R) At Aikahi, Enchanted Lake, Kahala, Kapolei, Mililani, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row

The Saint

Val Kilmer stars as Simon Templar in what may well launch a movie series. (PG-13) At Kahala, Kapolei, Laie, Nanakuli, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row

Scream

Director Wes Craven's teens-in-peril thriller raises the cheesy formula of the stalk-and-slash movie to an unexpected level of intelligence and valid suspense. (R) At Kapolei

Selena

This leisurely paced, pleasingly old-fashioned biopic traces the rise of the late Tejano music queen, Selena Quintanilla Perez, and her tragic shooting by her fan-club president. (PG) At Kapolei, Pearlridge

The Sixth Man

Silly but well-executed basketball comedy features Kadeem Hardison as a young basketball star who returns as a ghost after his death to help brother Marlon Wayans to a tournament championship. (PG-13) At Kapolei, Laie, Pearlridge West

That Old Feeling

In this loud but lifeless comedy former spouses (Bette Midler and )Dennis Farina) cross paths at their daughter's wedding, where friendly chit-chat escalates into rapid-volley insults, then anger turns to passion. (PG-13) At Kahala

Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie

The Power Rangers jump into action. Check your brain at the door and let the good times roll. (PG) At Kahala, Kapolei

Volcano

The stunts and special effects in this movie about a volcano in downtown Los Angeles are quite convincing, but the characters are merely functions and the format is time-worn and hokey. (PG-13) At Aikahi, Kahala, Kapolei, Keolu, Koko Marina, Mililani, Nanakuli, Pearlridge West, Restaurant Row, Waikiki 3
