TUESDAY: Commerce Department releases March factory orders. 10 a.m.

WEDNESDAY: Labor Department releases 1st-quarter productivity. 10 a.m.; Federal Reserve releases Beige book of regional economic activity, 2 p.m.; Federal Reserve releases March consumer credit. 3 p.m.

THURSDAY: Labor Department releases weekly jobless claims. 8:30 a.m.; National Association of Realtors releases 1st-quarter home prices by metro area. Time to be announced.

SUNDAY, May 4:

Kasane, Botswana — First Southern Africa International Dialogue on Smart Partnership, an international business forum. Through May 7.

Beijing — Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tarik Aziz visits. Through May 10.

San Francisco, Milwaukee — 14th AIDS Candlelight Memorial.

San Jose, Calif. — Cinco de Mayo parade.

Milwaukee — 111th anniversary commemoration of the Bay View Rolling Mill tragedy where seven workers were killed by state militia while protesting for an 8-hour workday.

New York — More than 28,000 riders expected to take part in 20th anniversary of five-borough bicycle tour of New York City, the nation's largest mass cycling event.

New York — Game No. 2 of rematch between world chess champion Garry Kasparov with IBM's Deep Blue supercomputer. Winner gets $700,000, loser $400,000.

New York — Day of Remembrance for six million Jewish Holocaust victims is observed by an expected 3,000 people at Congregation Emanu-El here, the largest of many to be held throughout the country.

MONDAY, May 5:

Paris — Truck drivers threaten new strike, after talks on establishing retirement at age 55 bog down.

Stockholm — Bruce Springsteen, Eric Ericson to receive Polar Music Prize.

Washington — President Clinton departs for trip to Mexico, Costa Rica and Barbados.

Washington — Supreme Court issues orders and decisions.

Washington — Senate in session.

Miami — Federal trial for former Miami city manager and lobbyist indicted on fraud, witness tampering and conspiracy charges.

Miami — Pretrial hearing on flight attendants' class-action suit against tobacco industry.

Los Angeles — Cinco de Mayo Mexican independence day celebration.

Alexandria, Va. — Conspiracy and money laundering trial of David Smith, president of American Eurocopter Corp. over allegedly fraudulent sale of helicopters to Israel. The company was fined nearly $25 million in February.

Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. — Sentencing of Delmar Simpson, the staff sergeant convicted on 18 counts of rape.

Farmington, N.M. — Court hearing in domestic violence case involving two fifth-graders who had "playground marriage" and "playgound divorce."

Columbia, S.C. — Hearing at Fort Jackson for drill sergeant accused of sexual misconduct.

Pasadena, Calif. — National Conference on Women & HIV.

New York — American Theater Wing announces nominations for 51st Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards. Raquel Welch, Rosie O'Donnell and Alec Baldwin take part.

TUESDAY, May 6:

Mexico City — President Clinton meets with Mexican President Zedillo, holds a joint press conference and meets with Mexican political leaders. The president will also attend a state dinner.

London - Templeton Prize for religion presented to Indian mystic Athavale.

Cairo, Egypt — German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel visits Egypt. Through May 7.

Washington — House of Representatives in session.

San Diego — Former president George Bush visits Mexican border region.

Cleveland — Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductions.

Santa Monica, Calif. — Trial of Whitewater figure Susan McDougal, charged with embezzling about $150,000 from symphony conductor Zubin Mehta.

Portland, Ore. — Former U.S. Rep. John Dellenback receives kidney from wife.

Phoenix — Deadline for federal government to file witness list in prosecution of Gov. Fife Symington, indicted on 23 felony counts of fraud, attempted extortion and lying to financial institutions.

Memphis, Tenn. — Hearing for attorneys for James Earl Ray and prosecutors to discuss plans to test rifle believed to have killed Martin Luther King Jr.

Huntsville, Texas — Execution scheduled for Terry Washington, 33, for the January 1987 fatal stabbing of a College Station restaurant manager.

Los Angeles — Trial in a $10 million breach-of-contract suit by Reebok against Sony Pictures for allegedly reneging on product placement deal involving the movie "Jerry Maguire."

Beverly Hills, Calif. — Hearings on separate battery cases against Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and actress Shannen Doherty.

WEDNESDAY, May 7:

Mexico City — President Clinton addresses the people of Mexico. The president then departs for Tlaxcala, where he attends a luncheon with President Zedillo. The president leaves for Teotihuancan and tours the pyramids before returning to Mexico City and departing for Costa Rica.

San Jose, Costa Rica — President Clinton arrives and meets with President Figures.

Wellington, New Zealand — German Chancellor Helmut Kohl to make first visit by German head of government. It underlines Germany's increasing interest in the booming economies of the Asia-Pacific region.

Milan — Trial of former premier Silvio Berlusconi continues.

Beijing — U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan visits China as part of his Asian tour. Through May 11.

Sofia — Bulgaria's newly elected parliament convenes first session.

Cannes, France — Cannes Film Festival begins. Through May 18.

Washington — House of Representatives in session.

Los Angeles — Hearing on an unprecedented request by the city attorney that members of the notorious 18th Street Gang will be barred from appearing publicly together in an area considered their home turf.

San Francisco — California Supreme Court scheduled to hear arguments on never-enforced state law requiring parental consent for a minor to have an abortion

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. — Statewide water conference.

Beverly Hills, Calif. — Mickey Rooney roasted by the Friars Club of California.

New York — Major auction of contemporary art, including works by Roy Lichtenstein, Willem de Kooning and Andy Warhol.

THURSDAY, May 8:

San Jose, Costa Rica — President Clinton addresses the Central American Summit Welcoming Ceremony and participates in the summit. The president also holds a press conference with Central American leaders and attends a dinner.

Muslim world — Islamic new year. (Depends on sighting of moon.)

Cairo, Egypt — Colombian President Ernesto Samper in Egypt as part of a tour of African and Middle Eastern countries.

Washington — House of Representatives in session.

Cleveland — Pre-trial hearing on DNA evidence in attempt by Dr. Sam Sheppard's son to clear his father's name in 1954 slaying of Marilyn Sheppard. The case inspired the television series "The Fugitive."

Santa Monica, Calif. — So-called "debtor examination" hearing in the Simpson civil case.

Green Bay, Wis. — Hearing for new trial for vat death defendant Mike Piaskowski.

Lincoln, Neb. — Death watch for Carey Dean Moore, scheduled to be executed for killing two Omaha cab drivers within four days in 1980.

Richmond, Va. — State Democrats begin two-day conference culminating in nomination of candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general.

Charlottesville, Va. — Hearing in federal court on lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the city's curfew.

FRIDAY, May 9:

Bridgetown, Barbados — President Clinton attends reception in honor of the Caribbean Summit.

Fairfax, Va. — Sentencing for man who pleaded no contest to charges he rammed police car with stolen Baltimore bus during 80-mile chase last fall.

Douglas, Ariz. — Extradition hearing for two Kentucky teen-agers wanted in roadside slaying of Tennessee family in March. Teens have fought extradition.

SATURDAY, May 10:

Bridgetown, Barbados — President Clinton attends Caribbean Summit and holds press conference with Caribbean leaders. He also meets with President Rene Preval of Haiti. He returns to Washington on May 12.

Rome — Pope John Paul II to go to Beirut. Through May 11.

South Africa — Deadline for amnesty applications to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Williamsburg, Va. — Jamestown Landing Day, the start of a 10-year countdown to the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, America's first permanent English colony.

Louisville, Ky. — International Science & Engineering Fair opens.

Richmond, Va. — Marilyn Manson concert at Richmond Coliseum expected to draw large crowds of Christian protesters to confront the rock group.

Vandenberg AFB, Calif. — $64 million Lewis satellite launched, carrying instruments that collect remote sensing data and two NASA imaging instruments.
