


The Kaiser Cougars held off a late rally by the Kalani Falcons, hitting crucial free throws for a 46-43 victory in OIA East girls basketball last night. Kaiser holds off Kalani
Kaiser (5-2) had taken a 26-20 halftime lead as Deanedra Nueku scored nine of her game-high 14 points in the second quarter.
Kalani came back and forced a tie at 43 with 20 seconds to play. The Falcons then fouled trying to regain possession but Nueku made one free throw and Sandra Char hit two from the charity stripe with nine seconds left.
A 3-point attempt by the Falcons at the buzzer fell short.
Elise Hajime led the Falcons with 10 points.

Taylor, a 5-9 forward, was the inside force, leading Kalaheo with eight rebounds and scoring most of her 20 points off her strong play under the basket.
