Kelly Gentle pitched a three-hitter in the first game and Stephanie Wiese recorded a one-hitter in the second game as UH defeated Tulsa, 4-0 and 7-0, in a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader.
Tia Morenz started the first game with a single. She was forced at second on Joyce Antonio's grounder, but Dana Degen doubled Antonio home with the only run Gentle needed.
In the second game, Morenz singled again to jump start the Wahine (30-20-1 overall, 11-9 WAC). Singles by Joyce Lum, Kehau Cofran and Regina Kaaihili accounted for two runs and Melissa McGie capped the five-run first inning with a bases-clearing double.
VULCANS SWEEP: At Hilo, the University of Hawaii at Hilo women's softball team completed its regular season by defeating Chaminade University, 5-1 and 6-3, in a Hawaii Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Carvalho Field yesterday.
Vicki House had two RBIs in the first game and three in the second for the Vulcans (34-24-1).
Melanie Hipwell doubled to knock in a run in the first inning of the opener to tie the UHH single-season record for RBIs (41, set by Rynee Rodrigues in 1993).
UHHGOLFERS HONORED: Three University of Hawaii at Hilo golfers -- seniors Stu Cohen and Jaysen Manuia and freshman Ryan Koshi -- have been selected to the NCAA Division II All-District 8 team.
The Vulcans, who finished second in the District 8 qualifying, will participate in the West Regional at St. Joseph, Mo., May 5-7.
Koshi led UHH during the 108 holes of qualifying with an average of 72.83 strokes per round. Cohen averaged 74.50, Manuia, 74.83.
IRON MAN WINNERS: The Kailua Canoe Club won the women's division in the "Pops" Puakea Iron Man Canoe Race from Kailua Beach Park to Waimanalo yesterday with a time of 53 minutes, two seconds.
The men, racing in the opposite direction, were led by Hui Nalo, which finished in 40.43.
REGIONAL QUALIFIERS: Five gymnasts from Hawaii have qualified for the National Gymnastic Championships that start Thursday in Orlando, Fla.
They are: Erin Geary, Elyse Wong, Nicole Vela-Bailey, Marie Lucas and Tacia LaBatte.
LE JARDIN ACADEMY BENEFIT: Le Jardin Academy is hosting its third annual golf tournament at the Mid-Pacific Country Club, May 5, with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
The proceeds go to the school's international programs.

TINMAN DEADLINE SET: The annual Tinman Triathlon, an 800-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike ride and 10-kilometer run event, will be held July 13 at Ala Moana Park.
The entry deadline is May 19 or the first 1,200 paid applicants. Forms are available at most sport shops, running and bike stores.

SPORTS MEDICINE SYMPOSIUM: The Hawaii Athletic Trainers' Association will hold its annual Sports Medicine Symposium May 31 at the University of Hawaii.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Richard Wasnich, Director of the Hawaii Osteoporosis Center.
The Clinical and Hands-on session includes "Sports Vision" by Dr. Ron Reynolds, and Jan Prins, PhD, will discuss and demonstrate "Rehabilitation in the Pool."
