HPU honors Pascua, Richey

Felisa Pascua and Steve Richey were honored by Hawaii Pacific University as its 1996-97 Scholar-Athletes of the Year at last night's awards banquet.

Pascua, a junior from Waipahu, is a two-time NAIA All-American first baseman for the Sea Warriors' softball team.

She is carrying a 3.32 cumulative grade point average while working on her Bachelor of Science in business administration degree with a concentration in computer information systems.

Richey, from Princeton, Ind., carried a 4.0 GPA during the basketball season and is a two-time NAIA All-American guard for the Sea Warriors. He received institutional endorsement by HPU as a Rhodes Scholar applicant and is a three-year member of the school's Dean's List.

Richey has a 3.23 cumulative GPA. He will graduate this summer with a Bachelors of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in finance.

WAHINE ROAD TRIP: The University of Hawaii women's softball team opens an 11-day road trip with a doubleheader against Western Athletic Conference opponent Tulsa this Sunday.

UH (28-20-1, 9-9 WAC) plays two more against Tulsa Monday, makes up a twin bill with New Mexico Wednesday and concludes the trip with four games at Nevada-Las Vegas, May 2-3.

ALOHA STATE GAMES: The official registration handbook for the eighth annual Aloha State Games is available at all 7-Eleven stores statewide.

SOFTBALL WINNERS: The men's winners in the third leg of the Coors Light Grand Slam of Softball were The Force (B Division), Lokahi Kanes (C Division) and Fuji's Market (D Division).

The women's winners were Guess What (C Division) and Na Kolohe Wahine (D Division).
