


In a battle between two of the top baseball teams in the Oahu Interscholastic Association's Eastern Division, a wild pitch and some extra hustle proved to the the difference yesterday. Knights blank Cougars,
gain share of first placeCastle (5-1) edged visiting Kaiser (5-1), 1-0, to gain a share of first place. Also at 5-1 is Roosevelt, a 13-4 winner over Kalani yesterday.
Kaiser and Roosevelt face off tomorrow at Aloha Stadium, at 7 p.m.
The Knights' run came in the second inning. Kalani Cathcart doubled to lead off the inning, then scored all the way from second base on a wild pitch to the next batter.
Otherwise, the game was a pitcher's duel between Kaiser's Grant Sato and Castle's Keith Taira, both tossing three-hitters.

Roosevelt 13, Kalani 4: At Stevenson Intermediate, Dean Gushi drove in five runs in a 10-run fourth inning as the Rough Riders (5-1) moved into a three-way tie for first place.
First, Gushi delivered a two-run single, then he added a three-run single with two outs on a full count and the runners going.
Roosevelt sent 14 batters to the plate in the fourth and banged out nine hits in that inning.
The loss dropped Kalani to 4-2.

Mililani 11, Moanalua 3: At Moanalua, a half hour "sun" delay in the sixth inning didn't stop the Trojans (6-1) from pounding out 12 hits.
"It's the first time that I've ever been involved in or seen anything like that," said Moanalua coach Richie Kibota.
"Our kids are used to it in practice, but the umpire (plate ump Vance Hall) made the call for safety," added. Kibota. "The umpire can't see and the catcher and batter can't see. This time of year, the angle of the sun is right behind center (field)."
Ted Tokunaga knocked in the Menehunes' (2-5) three runs.
