








The Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation has made the following grants for the second quarter of 1997. Kahanamoku awards grants
$1,000 to Na Kai Ewalu, the Maui Canoe Club that had its Halau damaged by arson last December.
$1,000 each to the Outrigger Canoe Club boys' 18 and girls' 14 volleyball teams to defray expenses for travel to tournaments this summer. These grants come from the ODKF designated Tom "Daddy" Haine volleyball fund established by the friends and family of the late Tom Haine, former volleyball Olympian.
$1,000 to the Royal Hawaiian Rowing Challenge to continue January's international event.
$1,000 to Christina Turney of Kailua to attend the Junior world kayak trials in Seattle in May.
$500 to Raymond Reichle, a 12-year-old surfer from Sunset Beach, to defray expenses to mainland meets.
$500 to Kanaka Ikaika, an ocean kayak racing organization sponsoring the May World Championship Kayak Challenge from Molokai to Oahu.
WAC GOLF: The University of Hawaii men's and women's golf teams finished well back after the final round of their respective Western Athletic Conference golf tournaments.
At Houston, the Rainbows ended in 12th with a 912 total. Texas Christian (851) won the title.
At Dallas, the Wahine placed 10th, shooting 999. Winner San Jose State had an 892.
