Beck, 82, of Lawai, Kauai, a retired U.S. Army general, died Wednesday at home. He also had been comptroller for the U.S. Army Pacific. Beck was a 1938 graduate of West Point and held a masters degree in business administration from Harvard University. Born in Atmore, Ala., he is survived by wife Patricia M.; daughters Jay Rendall, Judy Pacquin, Virginia Wessler and Kandie Beck; son David; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. on hotel wallLook at the rainbow at the Hilton Hawaiian Village or to the Orchid at the Halekulani Hotel, and you might see some of the handiwork of Charles J. Joe Gunckel.As a ceramic tile contractor, Gunckel worked on those and other projects. He died April 1 in Albuquerque, N.M.
He is survived by wife Carole; stepsons Lance and Aaron Nishimura; daughters Lisa McFarland, Patti Del Valle; brother Fred; sister Carol Breece; and two grandchildren. Services were held in Albuquerque.
