Get the lowdown
on the Legislature

It is new, revised, updated and for the first time ever, on the Web.

The 'it' in question is the popular 1997 Legislative Action Yellow Pages, a listing of vital information about the Legislature.

By casting your ballot for http://www.pixi.com/~hinet/legis.htm, you will be guided through the legislative mazes, and the denizens who occupy it, by one of Hawaii's most knowledgeable lobbyists, the Rev. Frank A. Chong, executive director of the Waikiki Health Center.

The Web site runs down the history of every legislator, gives you key contact telephone numbers, the names of the most important person in the office (the secretary) and a brief analysis of this legislative session.

The Web page and the book it is based on were written to help social workers and those in private charities find their way around the state Capitol, but it is a valuable primer for anyone looking for more information about why the Legislature acts as it does.

The Waikiki Health Center is also selling the pages assembled in an immediate random access, multicolor laptop design, called a book, for $20.

"Home on the Web" is a weekly Friday feature of the Star-Bulletin.
