


Kamehameha and Mid-Pacific turned to last-inning heroics to win slugfests in Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball games yesterday. Warriors, Owls
win last-licks slugfests
Kamehameha 9, St. Louis 8: At Kamehameha, Mikel Okouchi singled to right-center field with out out in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Dane Sardinha with the winning run as the Warriors (7-1) edged the Crusaders (6-3).
Sardinha led off the inning with a triple. After Shane Chan flied out to right, Okouchi drilled a 1-0 pitch from Chad Santos to break the 8-8 tie.
Kona Sampaio gave St. Louis an 8-5 lead in the top of the seventh with a three-run homer, but Kamehameha tied it with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Mid-Pacific 12, Punahou 11: At Mid-Pacific, Punahou scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 11-11. The Buffanblu parlayed four hits, including Scooter Martines' second homer of the game (a two-run blast), with three Owl errors.
The Owls scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Shaun Ebesutani led off with a double and eventually scored from third on a sacrifice fly to center by Bryan Lee.
MPI's Kelton Otsuka had a three-run double to highlight an eight-run third inning.

Iolani 13, UHBA 2: At Keehi Lagoon Field, the Raiders overcame a 2-1 deficit with a seven-run fourth inning highlighted by Gregg Omori's three-run homer.
Omori finished with four RBIs. Corin Korenaga had three RBIs.

Maryknoll 5, Damien 4: At Joey DeSa Field, the Spartans needed nine innings to pick up the victory after falling behind, 4-0 after three innings.
In the top of the ninth, leadoff batter Jon Teraizumi reached first on error by the Damien left fielder. Kevin Higa sacrificed Teraizumi to second and he scored on Aaron Rauckherst's single to right.
Brian Higa pitched a complete game for Maryknoll, allowing four hits, fanning six and walking seven.
