TOMORROW

LOOKING AHEAD

"1-2-3 ... Imagine!": 90-minute Broadway-style musical featuring the Sesame Street characters, 7 p.m. April 24 and 25, and May 2; 10:30 a.m. April 25 and 26, and May 1 and 3; 2 p.m. April 26, and May 1 and 3; and 1 and 4:30 p.m. April 27 and May 4. Cost: $10.50-$15.50. Call 527-5402.

Art festival: Create a two-dimensional artwork reflecting what "Children's Day" means, for the 8th annual Children's Day art contest, sponsored by the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. Open to children in grades K through 8. First and second place winners in each grade level will be awarded Central Pacific Bank Youth accounts. Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus: "Operatunities" gives children a chance to be a part of four short operas. Auditions April 26, rehearsals 1 to 5 p.m., June 16-July 27. Call 521-2982.

Wahiawa Preschool and Day Care Center: Three- to 5-year-olds can "Swing Into Summer" from June 2-Aug. 29. The program allows children to "explore nature."Half-day (8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.), $300; full-day (9 hours), $360; and extended day ($375). Information: 621-6214.

Trinity Christian School: Preschool programs with daycare for 2-5-year-olds, June 3-Aug. 15.

Kalihi-Palama Public Library: "Books-Grinds For the Mind!" is a young-adult reading incentive program for grades 7-12. Students receive rewards for books they read from June 9-July 26. Ongoing registration begins June 2.

"Family First Sunday" has families exploring different cultures from 10 to 11 a.m. Topics: The Philippines, June 7; Australia, July 5; and Japan, Aug. 2.

"I Can Fly!" is a keiki storytime for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Sessions are held 10 to 10:45 a.m. every Tuesday from June 17-July 29.

"Kalihi Gecko Flies Like An Eagle," summer stories and crafts for children, will be 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18-July 30.

Art School at Kapalua (Maui): Five- to 10-year-olds experience music, dance, drama, art, ceramics, swimming, nature studies, golf, tennis and creative writing. Ewa Beach Public and School Library: "Read, Let Your Mind Soar!" storytime for babies through sixth graders, 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25-July 23. Adult caregiver required.

"Books: Grinds For the Mind!" summer reading program for grades 7-12. Weekly awards for books read will be given. Program runs June 16-July 27. A similar reading incentive program will be offered for younger children. Call 689-8392 to register.

Kama'aina Kids: "S.P.I.R.I.T. Day Camp," overnight campouts, team-building activities, water sports, camp crafts, outdoor skills and Junior Lifeguard Program, for fourth- through eighth-graders, June 10-Aug. 1. Cost: $100 ($30 half day) a week or $715 ($200 half day) for eight weeks.

"Adventure Day Camp" for kindergarteners through third-graders, horsemanship, sports, dancing and weekly excursions, June 10 to Aug. 1. Cost: $95 ($30 half day) per week or $690 ($300 half day) for eight weeks.

Kindergarteners through eighth-graders can enjoy outdoor activities and go on excursions Aug. 4-29. Cost: $95 ($30 half day) per week or $345 ($100 half day) for four weeks.

Programs run 6 a.m to 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 to 6 p.m. at various locations.

"Before and After Summer School Program" for kindergarteners to fifth- graders includes water activities, camp crafts and excursions, 6 to 8 a.m. or noon to 6 p.m., June 18-July 30. Various locations. Cost: $80 morning; $470 afternoon.
