CONTINUING

B.A.P.S.

Halle Berry and Natalie Deselle play best-friends from Georgia who head to Beverly Hills in hopes of landing a role in a music video. Far-fetched plotting and awful sentimentality prevail. (PG-13) At Pearl West

Booty Call

This paean to safe sex is an oddly effective comic mix of the politically correct and outre stereotyping. (R) At Pearl West

The Devil's Own

Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford star in a solid drama exploring the differences between an IRA supporter (Pitt) and the New York cop (Ford) whose homelife he shatters. (R) At Kam Drive-In, Kapolei, Keolu, Mililani, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row, Waikiki 1

Donnie Brasco

Low-level hit man Al Pacino recruits a promising young thief (Johnny Depp) who is an agent for the FBI. The two stars do a great job complementing each other's performance. (R) At Kahala

Double Team

The English Patient

This adaptation of Michael Ondaatje's novel of wartime passion won Oscars for Best Picture, supporting actress Juliette Binoche, director Anthony Minghella, art direction. cinematography, sound, score, costume and editing. (R) At Kapolei, Varsity

Inventing the Abbots

This old-fashioned coming-of-age story takes itself so seriously it could have been locked in a time capsule for the last 40 years. Stars Joaquin Phoenix, Billy Crudup, Joanna Going, Jennifer Connelly and Liv Tyler. (R) At Kapolei, Pearl West, Varsity

Jerry Maguire

Tom Cruise plays a sports agent who dishonors himself by being honest. Supporting actor Cuba Gooding's performance brought him an Oscar win. (R) At Kahala

Jungle 2 Jungle

"Jungle 2 Jungle," starring Tim Allen, is a rote fish-out-of-water story about a commodities trader who brings his Amazonian forest-raised son back to New York. (PG) At Kahala, Kapolei, Pearlridge

Liar Liar

Jim Carrey plays a scummy lawyer forced to tell the truth for 24 hours. As usual, Carrey and his facial and bodily contortions make up the whole show. (PG-13) At Aikahi, Enchanted Lake, Kam Drive-In, Kapolei, Laie, Mililani, Pearl West, Restaurant Row, Waikiki 2

Return of the Jedi

The last part of the "Star Wars" trilogy wraps up the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo in their fight against the evil Empire. (PG) At Kapolei

The Saint

Val Kilmer stars as Simon Templar, thief-for-hire. Despite a bloated midsection, this seems a likely candidate to begin a film series. (PG-13) At Aikahi, Enchanted Lake, Kahala, Kapolei, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row

Scream

Director Wes Craven's teens-in-peril thriller raises the stalk-and-slash movie to an unexpected level of intelligence and valid suspense. (R) At Enchanted Lake, Kam Drive-In, Kapolei, Restaurant Row

Selena

This pleasingly old-fashioned biopic traces the rise to fame of the late Tejano music queen, Selena Quintanilla Perez, and her tragic shooting by her fan-club president. (PG) At Cinerama, Kailua, Kapolei, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row

The Sixth Man

Silly but well-executed comedy features Kadeem Hardison as a young basketball star who returns as a ghost after his death to help brother Marlon Wayans to a championship. (PG-13) At Enchanted Lake, Kapolei, Pearl West, Restaurant Row

Sling Blade

This modern masterpiece of Southern Gothic stages a battle between good and evil in a heartwarming but edgy drama. Director/actor Billy Bob Thornton received an Oscar for the screenplay. (R) At Koko Marina

Smilla's Sense of Snow

Julia Ormond performs with clarity and ferocity but this thriller quickly deteriorates into a big, dopey action film. (R) At Koko Marina

That Old Feeling

In this loud but lifeless comedy former spouses Lily (Bette Midler) and Dan (Dennis Farina) cross paths at their daughter's wedding reception, chit-chat escalates into insults, then anger turns to passion. (PG-13) At Kahala, Kailua, Kapolei, Mililani, Pearl West, Restaurant Row

Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie

The Power Ranges jump into battle with space pirate Divatox. Check your brain at the door and let the good times roll. (PG) At Kahala, Kapolei, Pearl West
