Taking a new look at Waikiki

Duke E. Ah Moo brings optimism to the newly created position of director of hotel operations and development at Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts.

Ah Moo said his company is now seeking a new management contract for a major Waikiki hotel. He previously was general manager of the Pleasant Holiday Isle Hotel in Waikiki, which Hawaiian Hotels leased until recently.

His new job, which is based in Waikiki, includes overseeing the Royal Lahaina Resort and Kahana Beach Condominium Hotel on Maui, Kauai Coconut Beach Resort and Royal Kona Resort on the Big Island.

Ah Moo also has worked at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and Le Meridan Hotel in New York City.

He earned a bachelor's degree in hotel management at Cornell University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Las Vegas.
