Kalani's Smith, Komine combine to toss two-hitter

Adam Smith and Shane Komine combined to pitch a two-hitter as Kalani defeated Farrington, 8-0, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division baseball game at Kahala Park yesterday.

Smith, who also had two hits and two RBIs, struck out nine and walked no one. Only one Governor runner reached third base and that was on an error.

Komine pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning with two strikeouts. He also knocked in two runs for the Falcons.

Castle 7, McKinley 5: At Castle, Shawn Kunimura singled in Kalani Cathcarth from second base to break a 2-2 tie in the third inning and the Knights went on to win their second Eastern Division game against no defeats.

Darren Goshi and Keith Igawa each had two hits for the Tigers.

Kailua 8, Kaimuki 4: At Kailua, Kui Fox doubled twice to knock in three runs in the Surfriders' seven-run sixth inning that wiped out a 4-1 Bulldog lead.

The only Kaimuki base runners after the first inning came via a pair of walks.

Geolina paces Rams to win over Sabres

Taryn Geolina scored all seven of Radford's points in overtime to lift the Rams to a 45-42 Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division victory in a girls' basketball game at the Radford Gym last night.

Geolina, who finished with 13 points, connected on two field goals and a 3-pointer in the extra period. Candace Benford topped the Rams with 14 points.

Sanoi Sao led the Sabres with 18 points.
