at Blaisdell tomorrow

Judy Collins, possessor of one of the purest voices in pop music, will grace the Blaisdell Concert Hall stage tomorrow and Saturday along with the Honolulu Symphony.

Collins, who is known for her recordings of "Someday Soon," "Both Sides Now" and the Beatles' "Places," will perform at 7:30 p.m. with Matt Catingub conducting.

Palolo rallies for stream cleanup

Palolo's pride continues Saturday as community groups gather to clean up Palolo Stream and prepare a lo'i.

The clean-up will begin at 8 a.m. at Palolo Valley Homes Community Center on Ahe Street. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt for participating. There also will be a potluck lunch and entertainment by the Samoan Club of Kaimuki High School and by youths from the Palolo neighborhood. Information: 732-6795 or 734-8269.

Waipahu music fest

The Makaha Sons, Kapena and Willy K will be among those performing at the Waipahu Music Fest '97 Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at Waipahu High School football field.

Other musical guests include Sistah Robi, Tropical Knights, Fiji, Sean Na'auao, Hawaiian by Heart and Kai Makani. There will also be foods and crafts.

Tickets for the event, which benefits the school's athletic department, are $10, free for children under 12. Bring your umbrellas, beach chairs and mats.

Hobnob with Hilfiger

If eyeballing famous designers is your thrill, catch up with Tommy Hilfiger at Liberty House Ala Moana from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Hilfiger received the Council of Fashion Designers of America's Menswear Designer of the Year award in 1996.
