Beached

By George F. Lee, Star Bulletin

Debris from a 44-foot yawl that broke up on the reef off Duke
Kahanamoku Beach yesterday is causing problems for Waikiki
beachgoers today, with lifeguards worried about nail-studded
debris in the water and on the beach. The boat, which was
moored offshore, ran aground about 1 p.m. yesterday after
it slipped its anchor. No one was aboard.

Below, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Jeff Dutcher examines
the hull of the demolished craft on Waikiki Beach at the foot
of Uluniu Street early this morning.
