OSAKA, Japan -- Grand champion Akebono defeated fellow Hawaii wrestler Musashimaru today, creating a three-way tie for the lead in the 15-day Spring Grand Sumo Tournament. Akebono beats Musashimaru
to tie for leadGrand champion Takanohana shoved out Musoyama today to match the 11-2 records of Akebono and Musashimaru.
Akebono, or Chad Rowan, was nearly toppled by an arm-throw by Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani, but recovered to clamp his opponent in an arm-lock and ease him out of the ring.
Konishiki, or Salevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, who missed his first two bouts because of flu, bulldozed Asahiyutaka and is 6-5.
Yamato, or George Kalima from Hawaii, shoved out Misugisato and improved to 7-6.
