Hawaii sumo standouts
stay ahead of pack

OSAKA, Japan -- Akebono, Musashimaru and Kaio all won today, staying tied for the lead at 10-1 in the 15-day Spring Grand Sumo Tournament.

Grand champion Takanohana and Dejima stayed one victory behind at 9-2.

Grand champion Akebono, or Chad Rowan from Hawaii, charged Takatoriki with hand thrusts and threw him down.

Champion Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani from Hawaii, sent out Asanosho and Kaio held off threw down Akinoshima.

Yamato, or George Kalima from Hawaii, was twisted down by Oginishiki and slipped to 6-5. Konishiki, or Salevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, forced out Daihisho, improving to 4-5. Konishiki missed his first two bouts because of flu.
