Two wrestlers from
Hawaii among leaders

OSAKA, Japan - Grand champion Akebono easily pushed out Terao today and stayed tied with Musashimaru and Kaio at 9-1 for the lead of the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament.

Akebono, or Chad Rowan from Hawaii, seeking his ninth tournament title, sent out Terao with hand thrusts.

Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani from Hawaii, held off Takatoriki's pushing and pulling attempts and sent him out.

Kaio fought off Kotonishiki's driving attempts and threw him down.

With five days left in the tournament, grand champion Takanohana, Takanonami and Dejima were one victory behind at 8-2.

Yamato, or George Kalima from Hawaii, sent out Kitakachidoki for his sixth victory against four defeats.

Konishiki, or Salevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, drove out Ganyu for his third victory against five defeats. He missed his first two bouts because of the flu.

In the juryo division, Hawaii's William Hopkins (3-7) forced out Saigo.
