Meet the author of "Maniac Magee": Write an essay on "If I met Jerry Spinelli, author of 'Maniac Magee,' I would tell him..." The essay must be 100 words or less and the winner will read the essay at an 8:15 a.m. news conference announcing the 1997 Nene Award Winner on April 2. Contestants must be in grades 4-6.
