Lomilomi workshop: Native Hawaiian practitioner Ronnie K. Dudoit and his wife Francine present a workshop of the healing art of lomilomi (bodywork) and la'au lapa 'au (medicinal herbs) on consecutive Saturdays, beginning March 3. Brain Injury Health Fair: Health professionals demonstrate ways to treat and rehabilitate brain-injury patients, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Windward Mall. Information is provided on a traumatic brain injury bill. The mini fair is sponsored by the Pacific Brain Injury Association and the neuro-psychology department of the Department of Health.

MS Walk: Fund-raiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Hawaii chapter begins 7:30 a.m. March 9 at Aloha Tower Marketplace. The 4-mile walk winds around Ala Moana Beach Park and returns to the Tower, with a shorter route option. Registration 6:30 a.m. Call 531-4127.

Honolulu AIDS Walk/Run: Register for the 7th annual walk/run around Kapiolani Park, 9 a.m. March 16. For the first time, runners have their own course. The 5K Walk/Run asks walkers to raise pledges; runners pay a $20 fee. Proceeds go to the Life Foundation, Hawaii's largest nonprofit AIDS organization. Caregiver course: Register by March 31 for classes on safety, nutrition, coping, legal issues, insurance and other topics, 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, April 19 through May 31. Costs $20. Call St. Francis Medical Center at 547-6410.

Donors needed: Platelets, blood components that aid in clotting, are needed for patients with blood diseases such as leukemia and aplastic anemia. Donation is painless and safe. Adults ages 18 to 65 who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health are asked to call the St. Francis Medical Center at 547-6403.

Family planning: Hawaii Department of Health offers confidential services that include pregnancy testing and counseling, examinations, checkups, information and birth control supplies. For a clinic near you, call 737-6311; on the Neighbor Islands, call ASK-2000.

Low-cost family planning: Rural Oahu Family Planning Clinics offer confidential services including birth control supplies and pregnancy testing in Waipahu and Wahiawa. Call 675-0070.

Health support groups: Child and Family Service offers education and peer support for depressed, chronically ill or disabled adults older than 60. Call 538-3400. Volunteers needed two mornings a week.

HEARTS: Hope, Encouragement, Assistance and Resolve Through Sharing, a support group for parents who suffered the death of an infant, meets 2:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, and 6 p.m. on the third Monday. Call 973-3042.

Survivors of Suicide: Confidential support group meets Tuesdays. Call 521-4555.

AIDS treatment resource center: The Longevity Library is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and by appointment at Life Foundation, 2114 Lauula St. The library has categories such as medical reference, traditional and alternative treatments, legal and social issues and caregiving.

Alzheimer's Association: Honolulu chapter offers support groups for caregivers of people affected by Alzheimer's and related diseases. Groups meet regularly in different neighborhoods. Call Marilyn Schoenke at 591-2771.

AIDS research: HIV patients interested in new treatments can participate in a study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. Another NIH-sponsored study examines HIV's impact on women. Research is being conducted by the Hawaii AIDS Clinical Trials Unit and the Hawaii Aids Research Consortium. Call 737-2751.

Patient care research project: National Cancer Institute and Pacific Health Research Institute are studying whether screening people for prostate, lung, colon or ovarian cancer will reduce the number of deaths from these cancers each year. Volunteers ages 60 to 74 can call 545-3006.

Free diabetes screening: People under 45 who have a relative with Type 1 diabetes are eligible for a free screening, part of a six-year study sponsored by the National Institute of Health. Your blood will be tested for antibodies linked with an elevated risk for developing diabetes. People found to be at risk may participate in the Diabetes Prevention Trial, which explores whether diabetes can be delayed or prevented. Call 531-6886.

Research on women's health: Women ages 50 through 79 needed for the Women's Health Initiative, a long-term study sponsored by the National Institute of Health. WHI looks into the prevention of heart disease, cancer and bone fracture, and the value of hormone treatment and calcium and vitamin D supplements. Women must be in good health, past menopause, and expect to live on Oahu for the next three years. Call Women's Health Hawaii at 547-9814.

Parkinson's Disease: Straub Foundation seeks patients who have not had levodopa therapy for clinical research. Call 522-4231 or 522-3440.

Yoga for diabetics: Bikram's Yoga College offers a month of free lessons for diabetics who participate in a study of the effects of yoga. Participants must commit to four or five days a week. Call 737-5519. Hatha yoga lessons are $10, or $80 for 10.
