Wahine sweep
San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Stephanie Wiese knocked in eight runs and Kelly Gentle pitched a one-hitter in the second game as the University of Hawaii women's softball team swept San Jose State, 12-5 and 16-0, in a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader yesterday.

Wiese had two homers and five RBIs in the opener and a double and homer and three RBIs in the shutout.

Gentle walked two and fanned three as the Wahine evened their WAC record at 2-2.

Catcher Dana Degen homered in each game and had a total of seven RBIs.



SEMI-PRO BASKETBALL

The Pacific Basketball League, a new semipro circuit, has scheduled its first season from June 12 to July 31 with games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Tryouts will be held March 29 and April 5 with six teams formed by a draft. Former college players are welcome, but the league is not open to college players with eligibility left.
