Governing ties with Best Western

Tom Burke, a top executive with Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, will serve as liaison for Best Western hotels in Hawaii. Best Western has an agreement for marketing/reservations with the Outrigger Waikiki Tower and supplies 10 to 12 percent of its reservations, Burke said.

"As governor, my job is to ensure that guests who stay in our Best Westerns continue to receive quality accommodations and consistent hospitality and value," Burke said.

Best Western is working on other marketing/reservation agreements with hotels on neighbor islands, he said.

After working in counter-intelligence for the U.S. Army, Burke joined Outrigger in 1967 as a desk clerk. He now is vice president of operations overseeing 17 of Outrigger's 20 Waikiki properties (with 5,000 rooms), and including the 439-room Best Western Outrigger Waikiki Tower.
