Kuliouou Valley hike: Donna Davis-Brown of the Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a leisurely walk along a shaded trail, 9 a.m. Saturday. Four miles. Costs $2. Call 422-7830.

Parade of boats: The Waikiki Yacht Club heralds the opening of the yachting season, 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Watch from the harbor at Pier 9, by Aloha Tower.

Navy ship open house: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Pier 9, Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Mau'umae Ridge hike: Rugged hike in the Koolaus provides views of waterfalls from Ka'au Crater, Sunday. Four miles, four hours with Kimberly Welch. Costs $7. Call the Hawai'i Nature Center at 955-0100.

The Roll at Dole: Dole Cannery hosts an in-line skating race with activities for kids and a concert by Sunland and SPUNN, 9 a.m. Sunday. See the Rollerblade Skate Museum and get tips from experienced skaters. On-site registration 7 to 8 a.m. Sunday. Or register by Friday at Bike Factory Sportshop (942-7655) or by Saturday at the Great Aloha Run Expo.

Marine aquarium keeping: Waikiki Aquarium experts Charles Delbeek, Jerry Crow and Alan Nelson demonstrate proper filtration, tank maintenance, control of fish diseases, feeding and more, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Feb. 27. Class for ages 16 and older costs $40. Register by mail. Call 923-9741.

Zoo by Moonlight: Tour the Honolulu Zoo by the light of the full moon, 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 20 through 23. Costs $7 adults, $5 children. Purchase tickets in advance at cashier's office.

Sailing and seamanship course: Free boating safety classes on navigation, weather, emergency communication and other topics begin Feb. 27 at Fort DeRussy. Instruction provided by Flotilla 18 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Call 941-5784 or 945-3195.

MS Walk: Four-mile fund-raiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Hawaii Chapter begins 7:30 a.m. March 9. Registration at the Aloha Tower Marketplace begins 6:30 a.m. Walkers circle Ala Moana Beach Park and return to the Tower. Call 531-4127 for a registration form.

Great Trans Ko'olau Trek: Prizes totaling $100,000 reward fast folks in the 10-mile foot race May 11 on the H-3 freeway. To sponsor the Trek, call Bozell Marketing at 955-4416. Honolulu Zoo: Zoo opens at 8 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. General admission $6; $2 with Yum Yum Tree senior card. First Wednesdays feature a botanical tour at 8:45 a.m. for $2 more. Third Wednesdays, tai chi practice begins 8 a.m. Call 971-7174.

Nature Conservancy hikes: Two guided hikes a month to Honouliuli Preserve, home to more than 45 rare native plants and animals. Donation. Call 537-4508.
