






University of Hawaii men's basketball coach Riley Wallace and UH Wahine forward Nani Cockett have been named the Honolulu Quarterback Club/Arthritis Foundation Sportspersons of the Month for January. Wallace, Cockett QBhonorees
Wallace and Cockett were instrumental in leading their respective teams to the top of the Western Athletic Conference standings last month.
They will be honored at Monday's meeting of the Quarterback Club at the Flamingo Chuckwagon on Kapiolani Boulevard. The luncheon gathering begins at 11:30 a.m.
Wallace is the featured speaker. Kalaheo High School boys' basketball coach Pete Smith also will speak.
Tickets for the club's Feb. 17 Banquet of Champions at the Pacific Beach Hotel also will be available for purchase.
At Dallas, Anneli Ornstedt and Yu-Hsien Liu of Brigham Young University-Hawaii lost two matches in the Rolex Intercollegiate Tennis Championships yesterday. BYUH PAIR BEATEN TWICE
Mississippi's Courtney Chapman and Agnes Muzamel beat the Seasider pair, 6-0, 6-7, 6-1, in a first-round match.
In a consolation match, Colleen Lucey and Melissa Simpfer of Wisconsin defeated Ornstedt and Liu, 6-4, 6-0.
The Straub Hawaii Women's 10K organization will host a free racewalking clinic Sunday from 7 to 8 a.m. at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand. RACEWALKING CLINIC
A two-day Speed Quest Camp will be held at the University of Hawaii Feb. 22-23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. SPEED QUEST CAMP
The camp will be conducted by Scott Phelps, speed consultant to the Milwaukee Bucks and two U.S. Olympic programs.
The cost is $60 and includes a T-shirt and a Complete Athlete Manual. The camp is open to athletes age 13 and up. Enrollment is limited. The deadline is Feb. 14.
