Paris - Visit by Georgian President Eduard Shevardnaze.

Ottawa - Canadian House of Commons returns from its winter break.

Bali, Indonesia - International Coffee Organization executive board meeting. Through Feb. 5.

Rome - Visit of Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu

Hamilton, Bermuda - Sentencing of man who pleaded guilty to sexual assault and robbery in attack on Canadian senator.

Toronto - World Winter Special Olympics opens. Through Feb. 8.

Washington - Supreme Court is in recess until Feb. 18.

Washington - Senate is in session.

Wilsonville, Ore. - Hearing resumes for Oregon Supreme Court justice accused of sexual harassment.

Coquille, Ore. - Trial begins for Girley Crum, accused of cutting throats of family of five.

Sioux Falls, S.D. - Federal court sentencing scheduled for Roger Raether, a businessman convicted in connection with a scheme to resell surplus government equipment.

Raleigh, N.C. - Federal trial continues for two Freemen members charged with bank fraud, intimidating a federal IRS agent and transporting stolen property.

Wilmington, N.C. - Jimmy Green, former North Carolina lieutenant governor, is sentenced for tax evasion.

Rochester, N.Y. - Dr. Martha Hill, president-elect of the National Heart Asociation, discloses findings of a study of hypertension among black males.

El Paso, Texas - Deadline for Army to settle class-action harassment suit filed by female employees at Fort Bliss. If no settlement is reached, the case will be scheduled for trial.

Las Vegas - Jay Leno telecasts his TV show from MGM Grand.

Los Angeles - Trial in suit by Foodmaker restaurants against Vons Grocery Co. in connection with the 1993 E-coli infections in the Pacific Northwest that killed one and made hundreds ill.

TUESDAY, Feb. 4:

Colombo, Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan National Day.

Berlin - Chancellor Helmut Kohl breaks ground for new chancellery building.

Paris - Appeals court to rule on case against flamboyant former sports tycoon and politician Bernard Tapie, sentenced to eight months in prison for trying to fix soccer match.

Duesseldorf, Germany - Retrial continues for former East German spymaster Markus Wolf on charges including bribery, kidnapping and coercion.

Humansdorp, South Africa - Extradition hearing for alleged Australian pedophile.

Jakarta, Indonesia - Population to reach 200 million in world's fourth most populous nation.

Copenhagen, Denmark - Iranian opposition leader meets Danish lawmakers.

Washington - President Clinton delivers his State of the Union address.

Washington - House of Representatives reconvenes; Senate is in session.

Washington - Federal Open Market Committee meets. Through Feb. 5.

Rochester, N.Y. - Court hearing to decide whether man convicted of killing a woman in 1988 should get new trial because of evidence that Mark Christie, accused of killing 4-year-old Kali Poulton, is real killer.

Albuquerque, N.M. - Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service meeting.

Phoenix - Hearing on motion to approve settlement in one part of Gov. Fife Symington's bankruptcy case.

Williamsburg, Va. - Filmmaker Ken Burns previews his latest project, "Thomas Jefferson" during a news conference at the old House of Burgesses at Colonial Williamsburg.

Los Angeles - Actor Robert Wagner unveils U.S. Postal Service's 1997 Love Stamp.

WEDNESDAY, Feb. 5:

Pretoria, South Africa - Medicines Control Council completes its review of information on claims about a new AIDS drug.

Washington - President Clinton travels to Augusta, Ga.

Washington - Senate is in session.

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Hearing for three teens accused in satanic ritual slaying of 15-year-old girl.

Los Angeles - Arraignment for actor Ken Wahl in assault on Beverly Hills bartender.

Los Angeles - Hearing in lawsuit by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke against the band.

THURSDAY, Feb. 6:

Washington - President Clinton releases his budget.

Washington - Senate is in session.

Herkimer, N.Y. - Sentencing for Lewis Lent Jr. in the disappearance of Sara Anne Wood.

Arlington, Texas - School board scheduled to vote whether to subject all prom-goers to breath or saliva test to ensure they haven't been drinking.

Fort Worth, Texas - Boys & Girls Clubs of America hosts national youth gang symposium.

Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina Supreme Court to hear appeal by charities trying to get control of Shoeless Joe Jackson's will.
