Kuo, others in concertThe center, located at the top of Waimano Home Road, is designed with excellent acoustics and equipment that will allow concert-goers to appreciate the slack-key sounds without the distractions at outdoor concerts, says Pahinui, who is producing the event.
Tickets are $15 and are available at all Tower Records, except in Waikiki, until noon on Saturday, or at the door.

It's Punahou carnival time again. The annual event runs tomorrow and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the school campus. Lots of food at Punahou Carnival
The carnival is know for its food, which will include malassadas, Hawaiian plate, Portuguese bean soup, pizza, burgers, noodles and gyros. There also will be a country store, white elephant sale, plant booth, fresh produce, leis, flowers as well as art work from more than 170 artists such as John Young, Avi Karati and Ken Knight.

The Barbie Club of Hawaii puts on its first-ever Hawaii convention Saturday at the Mauna Kea Ballroom of the Hawaii Prince Hotel. The convention runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with sales booths open from 8 to 10 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m. Doll it up
