Suspensions hit
’Bows hard

Wallace, however, says it won’t affect
team’s winning ways

Hawaii men's basketball head coach Riley Wallace said that the suspension of three of his players - junior forward Kelvin Anderson, junior guard Aaron Curry and freshman forward Quentin Gallon - will not affect the team's winning ways.

"We still have seven of our top eight guys," Wallace said last night. "We had a good practice today and the players were concentrated."

UH athletic director Hugh Yoshida announced the suspensions in a short press release yesterday, which stated that the players violated an unspecified policy in the UH Student-Athlete Handbook.

Yoshida was unavailable for comment yesterday.

UH associate athletic director Jim Donovan said he could not comment any further on the suspensions.

Wallace said he could not comment on the specifics, but said the length of the suspensions apparently have not yet been determined.

The three players did not practice yesterday and will apparently not play in the UH game against UNLV tomorrow night at the Special Events Arena.

None of the three are starters, but Curry has been a key player off the bench, usually substituting for the team's leading scorer, Anthony Carter, at point guard.

Curry is averaging 13.2 minutes per game, with a 2.3 scoring average.

Gallon, who was sent home by Wallace from the team's three-game West Coast road trip last week for violating curfew, is averaging just 7.3 minutes and 1.6 points per game.

Anderson is averaging just 2.1 minutes per game.

"There's never a good time (of the season) for it," Wallace added. "But we'll be ready. We'll be there."
