Ishii, Yokota top Pearl field

Six-time winner David Ishii and defending champion Shinichi Yokota are entered in the 54-hole Hawaii Pearl Open beginning Friday at the Pearl Country Club.

Also entered are former winners Lance Suzuki, Greg Meyer, Kevin Hayashi and Damien Jamila, as well as more than 70 Japan PGA Tour professionals, including Hisayuki Sasaki, who also played on the American PGA Tour last year.

Other top entrants include Deron Doi, the 1996 Hawaii State Open champion, 1995 National Club pro champion Steve Schneiter and local amateurs Guy Yamamoto, Stan Souza and Brandan Kop.

The pros will compete for the $12,000 top prize.

The top 80 and ties will play in Sunday's final round, starting at 7:30 a.m. Admission is free.



PARK TO RUN SHARKS

Russell Park is the new General Manager of the Honolulu Sharks of Hawaii Winter Baseball.

He replaces Carl Iwasaki, who has moved with his wife to California.

Park joins the Sharks after eight years with Servco Pacific, where he served as Marketing Department Manager.
