In the eight-mile events, John Foti won the men's canoe race in one hour, eight minutes and 38 seconds. Libby Fulk took the women's race in 1:29:07.
Wyatt Jones captured the men's kayak event in 1:02:49 while Nicole Wilcox was the women's winner in 1:14:36, just five seconds ahead of runner-up Kelly Fey (1:14:41).

The first official points race of the 1997 drag racing season was held Saturday night at Hawaii Raceway Park with the debut of the season-long NAPA Silver Cup Series. DRAG RACING STARTS
The first winners were Jay Renard in Bracket One and Dason Takayama in Bracket Two. The winners received 10 NAPA Silver Cup Series points for each of the four rounds they won in the round-robin competition.
This Saturday, the Oahu Motorcycle Dealers will debut the first points event in the year-long Silver Cup Series for motorcycles.
The drag strip opens for street racing cars and bikes at 6 p.m.
