Jaymar Acidera sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Waipahu to a 48-45 home-court victory over Campbell last night in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division basketball action.The OIA West regular season ends Saturday with five games.
The OIA East concludes tonight with Kalaheo at Farrington, Kalani at Kaimuki, McKinley at Kahuku, Roosevelt at Castle, and Kaiser at Kailua.
The league championship playoff preliminaries will be held Feb. 6 and Feb. 8.
The Sabers (6-3) pulled into a 45-45 tie with four seconds left in the game. Waipahu (6-3) then inbounded the ball with a long pass to just past half court and called a timeout with three seconds left to set up Acidera's shot.
Acidera, who had eight points in the third quarter when Waipahu took a 34-28 lead, finished with 20 points.
Ernest Limjoco led Campbell with 17 points.

Moanalua 66, Pearl City 44: At Pearl City, the defending state champion Menehunes (9-0) clinched the OIA Western Division title behind Ramsey Williams' 24 points.
Williams had 13 in the first half as Moanalua built a 30-21 lead.
Bryson Kamakura and Ricky Marshall each had 10 points for the Menehunes, while Kyle Okinaka led the Chargers (3-6) with 16.
