Making a case for commerce

Paul Rehob has taken on the top operations and government affairs job at the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii.

He wants legislation to improve business opportunities.

"We want to build success for everyone, not one particular group," Rehob said. "There isn't one particular issue (of concentration). There are a lot of issues."

His 17 years of experience included stints at Bank of America Hawaii, Bank of Hawaii, Honolulu Federal Savings & Loan and Toronto Dominion Bank

Rehob last year received the national minority business advocate award from the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Small Business Administration's minority business advocate award for Honolulu. He received the state's financial services advocate award in 1995.

He is a native of Canada, came to Hawaii in 1983 and became a U.S. citizen in 1992.
