Hess helps keep
Kalaheo unbeaten

Steve Hess scored 19 points as defending Oahu Interscholastic Association champion Kalaheo improved to 8-0 in the Eastern Division with a 63-42 victory over Kaimuki.

Hess, a 5-foot-11 senior guard, had 13 of his points, including all three of his 3-pointers, in the first half as the host Mustangs took a 40-21 lead.

Davis Kamelamela and Kip Lutu each scored 10 points for Kalaheo.

The Bulldogs (4-4) were led by Bradon Moore's 12 points.

Kaiser 61, Castle 38: At Kaiser, Stephen Giles scored 10 of his 12 points to help the Cougars (6-2) take a commanding 29-10 lead at the half.

Travis Sutton notched 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as Kaiser maintained a comfortable lead throughout.

Billy Bratton connected on four 3-pointers and led Castle (1-7) with 17 points.

Roosevelt 55, Kahuku 49: At Roosevelt, Hong Vuong keyed a fourth-quarter rally with a pair of 3-pointers as the Rough Riders (4-4) overcame a 10-point third-quarter deficit.

Dustin Low also played a big role in the Roosevelt comeback, scoring eight of his 17 points in the final quarter.

Seli Maalaelu had 10 of his 22 points in the first half when the Red Raiders (6-2) took a 30-21 lead.
