Vulcans Triumph

HILO--The University of Hawaii at Hilo Vulcans regained the winning touch in a big way last night with a 107-75 nonconference basketball victory over St. Martin's College of Lacy, Wash., at the Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The Vulcans (6-11) built a 20-point lead (54-34) at the half and controlled the game throughout the second half.

Merriel Jenkins continued to have the hot hand for UHH, scoring 27 points on 10-for-14 from the floor, including two 3-pointers.

He also pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds, 13 on the defensive end.

Rodney Odrick chipped in with 16 pointes, Jayme Carvalho scored 14 and Eric Culbertson had 11.

The Saints (5-12) were led by Bill Sheed, who scored 20 points, and James Marcy, who had 13 rebounds and 12 points.
