Enter the dragons

Chinese New Year's isn't until Feb. 8, but they'll be celebrating a "Night in Chinatown" tomorrow.

A parade with an estimated 1,000 marchers, 30 vehicles and four bands will leave the State Capitol grounds about 4 p.m., winding its way from Richards Street to Hotel Street to Aala Park.

Maunakea Street, between King and Beretania, will be blocked off from 9 a.m. to midnight, and will feature food and craft booths.

Two stages of entertainment, including martial arts clubs from the mainland, will be set up beginning at 6 p.m., while a Chinese "dragon boat" will be displayed at the Hotel Street end of Maunakea.

The event is sponsored by the Chinatown Merchants Association and AT&T.

Ex-Prince to perform in Honolulu again

The artist formerly known as Prince will return to Hawaii Feb. 16 for a concert at Blaisdell Arena.

The 8 p.m. concert comes almost a year after the entertainer's last performances here.The show is part of the artist's "The Emancipation Celebration" and a portion of the ticket sales will benefit the "Love 4 One Another" charity he set up.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at the Blaisdell box office and Connection outlets and by phone at 545-4000 or 1-800-333-3388. Prices are $27.50, $35 and $65 for special charity seating.
