Home seminar set

Those considering a home building or remodeling project are invited to attend a free seminar, "Home Owners Guide to the Construction Process," Jan. 29 at the Mililani Country Club.

Experts in construction design, finance and the building process will cover topics such as organizing your project, selecting a builder, and designing and financing the project.

Barbie Forever

Barbie lovers, unite! Hawaii's first Barbie Convention will be held Feb. 8 at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Mauna Kea Ballroom.

The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for conventioneers, who must sign up in advance.

Dolls and accessories will be available to the public during sales hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m. only.

Vroom, vroom!

The 20th annual First Hawaiian Bank Auto Show takes place Jan. 24 to 26 at the Neal Blaisdell Arena and Exhibition Hall.

More than 300 new cars, trucks and recreation vehicles will be on view from noon to 9 p.m. Jan. 24, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 25 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 26, with a special display of 1977 cars in mint condition.

During the show, there will be hourly drawings for a key that may unlock the door to a prize 1997 Nissan Sentra at 4 p.m. Jan. 25, or a 1997 Ford Escort at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 26. Admission is free. What do you have to lose?
