Akebono, Musashimaru win

TOKYO - Grand champion Akebono and champion Musashimaru remained unbeaten at 4-0 today but grand champion Takanohana and champion Takanonami suffered their first losses in the 15-day New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.

Akebono, or Chad Rowan from Hawaii, pushed out Musoyama and Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani from Hawaii, sent out Takatoriki. Wakanohana also is 4-0 after bulldozing Tamakasuga.

Takanohana was beaten by Tosanoumi and Takanonami was sent out by Kenko.

Konishiki, or Salevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, lost to Migugisato and dropped to 2-2.

Yamato, or George Kalima from Hawaii, suffered his fourth straight defeat against no victories as he was pulled down by Daishi.

In lower-division action, William Hopkins (2-2) from Hawaii was thrown down by Ohinode.
