






TOKYO - Grand champion Akebono and champion Musashimaru remained unbeaten at 4-0 today but grand champion Takanohana and champion Takanonami suffered their first losses in the 15-day New Year Grand Sumo Tournament. Akebono, Musashimaru win
Akebono, or Chad Rowan from Hawaii, pushed out Musoyama and Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani from Hawaii, sent out Takatoriki. Wakanohana also is 4-0 after bulldozing Tamakasuga.
Takanohana was beaten by Tosanoumi and Takanonami was sent out by Kenko.
Konishiki, or Salevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, lost to Migugisato and dropped to 2-2.
Yamato, or George Kalima from Hawaii, suffered his fourth straight defeat against no victories as he was pulled down by Daishi.
In lower-division action, William Hopkins (2-2) from Hawaii was thrown down by Ohinode.
