The Stone Temple Pilots concerts on Maui
and Oahu have been canceled.

Mohave-Apache join
taiko drummer on stage

The 'Hman 'Shawa Day School Singers & Dancers from the Mohave-Apache Indian Community in Fountain Hills, Ariz., will join the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble in a free performance at 6 p.m. Monday at the University of Hawaii-Manoa's Orvis Auditorium.

The 34 members includes dancers as young as 3 years old as well as adults. Tribal elders and leaders are accompanying the performers and will meet with Mayor Jeremy Harris Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at City Hall. The performance tour is organized by the Association for International Cultural Exchange Programs.

STP shows canceled

The Stone Temple Pilots has canceled its two concerts in Hawaii scheduled for this weekend.

Promoter Goldenvoice issued a statement Monday saying the group canceled its tour "for personal reasons."

The group had been scheduled to appear Saturday at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center and Sunday at the Neal Blaisdell Arena here.

Goldenvoice said refunds for tickets to the Honolulu show will be made at the Neal Blaisdell Box Office (591-2211) only. Maui refunds will be made at the point of sale, all starting Monday. On Maui, call 242-7469.
