University of Hawaii backup center Danny Furlong practiced yesterday and will be available for the UH-Northwestern game in Friday's Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic.

Furlong was averaging 5.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 13.4 minutes per game before he broke the big toe on his right foot in practice on Dec. 9.

"(Trainer) Jayson Goo told me that he had a Christmas present for me before practice," Wallace said. "It will be good to have him back."

Furlong, a 6-11, 235-pound senior center, was originally thought to be out for three weeks.

CLARK, VAN HORN CITED

The Western Athletic Conference yesterday honored UNLV's Keon Clark and Utah's Keith Van Horn as its players of the week.

Clark, a junior center, scored 20 points in the Rebels' loss to Syracuse and again in their victory over Tulane last week. He also had 19 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Clark won the WAC's Pacific Division honor.

Van Horn, a senior forward, had game-highs of 34 points and 12 rebounds in the Utes' victory over Texas.

Van Horn received the honor for the second consecutive week in the Mountain Division.
