Rotary scholarships

Applications for the 1998-99 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships are available from Rotary Clubs statewide.

The Academic Year Ambassadorial Scholarship is for one academic year abroad and provides up to $22,000 for round trip transportation, tuition and fees, room and board, educational supplies and contingency expenses.

There is also an Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarships for either 3 or 6 months of intensive language training and cultural immersion at a language training institution. These scholarships are valued at $10,000 or $17,000.

During their studies aboard - in one of 153 countries where Rotary clubs are located - scholars act as ambassadors of goodwill, representing Hawaii and the United States at Rotary clubs, schools, civic organizations and other forums to improve international understanding. Applicants sought

The Honolulu Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction is seeking applicants for its 1997 undergraduate scholarship competition. Applicants must be enrolled and have at least one term remaining after Aug. 1, 1997, in a course of study leading to a degree, associate degree or certification in a construction-related program.

Applicants are considered on the basis of interest in construction, grades, extracurricular activities, employment experience, advisor's evaluation and financial need. For more information, contact Amy Mijo at 847-5796.
