TODAY

Zoo by Moonlight: Join the nightlife at the Honolulu Zoo, 7 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday. Tours combine folk tales and facts about lions, lemurs and other creatures. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 children, and are available in advance at the cashier's office.



FRIDAY

Barnes & Noble: Stories with Arthur, 7 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday and Sunday, at Kahala Mall.



SATURDAY

Folk Tales & Animal Tails: The Honolulu Zoo has a creative drama workshop for children ages 5 to 11, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday. Costs $35. Call 971-7195.

Natural Holiday Ornaments: Families learn to make gifts and wrapping paper from natural and recycled materials, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hawai'i Nature Center on Maui. For ages 5 and older. Reserve at 244-6500, Maui.

Night Reef Walk: Explore the shore with Waikiki Aquarium staff, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Costs $10 adults, $8 children. Register by mail. Call 923-9741.



SUNDAY

Paper Making Workshop: Find out how paper is made and create your own for gift tags and cards, 10 a.m. to noon at the Hawai'i Nature Center. For ages 8 and up. Costs $7. Reserve at 955-0100.



CONTINUING

"Spiders!" on display: Enter the world of the eight-legged, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Jan. 1 at Bishop Museum. See how Hawaii spiders fit into arachnid society and try interactive games. Admission is $14.95 general, $11.95 youths, seniors and military. Call 847-3511.

Tropical plant nature walk: 10 a.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Free. Bring walking shoes, insect repellent and rain gear. Call 233-7323 for reservations.

Train rides: Enjoy a 90-minute ride through Ewa 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Sundays with the Hawaiian Railway Society, 91-1001 Renton Road. Passengers should arrive a half hour before departure time. Costs $8 general, $5 seniors and children. Call 681-5461 for reservations.



LOOKING AHEAD

Aquarium After Dark: See how the reef changes as day turns to night, on a flashlight tour of the Waikiki Aquarium 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 27. Costs $7 adults, $6 children. Register by mail. Call 923-9741 for information.

New Year's Traditions: Families learn about Hawaiian, American, Japanese and other celebrations in the islands, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 29 at the Hawai'i Nature Center. Costs $7. Reserve at 955-0100.

Vacation Adventures: Honolulu Zoo has day camps for children ages 5 to 11, Dec. 30 through Jan. 3. Mornings focus on animals and conservation, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; afternoons inspire artistic pursuits, 2:30 to 5 p.m. Costs $120 mornings, $70 afternoons or $170 for both. Call 971-7195.
