Pioneer Printers has bought Fisher Printing, one of the oldest local printing companies. Pioneer Printers buys
Fisher PrintingPioneer said it will acquire Fisher's 30,000 square-foot downtown printing plant and, for now, will retain its employees. The two companies have a total of 50 employees. The sale price was not disclosed.
Fisher was founded in 1929 as the printing arm of Fisher Corp. In 1966, Fisher Corp. was sold to its employees and the corporation was split into two entities, Fisher Printing and Fisher-Hawaii Office Supplies.
Pioneer Printers was founded in 1974.

housing programThe program that helps Molokai workers with food, housing and local transportation was set to end on Dec. 31, but hotel general manager Matthew Hart says the help will be extended six months in hopes ferry service will be restored.
Ferry operator David Jung is looking for a way to restart the service, which he stopped after the state quit subsidizing it.
Jung says there's been talk of reviving the ferry subsidy at the Legislature.

in for some changesThe Wall Street Journal reported today that McDonald's Corp. is ordering modifications - including less in salt in ketchup and improved sauce for the Big Mac - after finding its burgers rated behind Wendy's and Burger King.
Other changes include adding garnishes to its Arch Deluxes only after heating.
The newspaper said the changes come as management seeks to boost sales at U.S. stores. McDonald's doesn't release figures, but analysts say they have been flat or lower for most of the year.
