"I first came to Hawaii in 1978 and I left in 1994," Lawrence said. "But I was gone only a few months and I knew that I wanted to come back to Hawaii."

For those two years, he was general manager for Outrigger Lodging Services' Doubletree Hotel in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Lawrence also had been vice president of operations for Outrigger Hotels in Honolulu and regional director of operations in Hawaii for Colony Resorts. While at Outrigger Hotels from 1989 to 1994, he was responsible for nine hotels and management of Outrigger Condominiums & Resorts.

At Marc Resorts, he hopes to sign up management contracts for condos and boutique hotels. Marc Resorts operates 20 resorts, suites, hotels and inns in Hawaii.
